                           TIM'S TIDBITS

A few times a year, I send out a newsletter that addresses
issues raised by my readers over the past few months. Please
remember to submit topics for future newsletters.

Every day, I get e-mails sent to me that simply say something
like, "I have RSD and can't stand it." This is immensely
frustrating for me. I want to help you. My entire career is
dedicated to helping people get pain relief, but there is
nothing I can do with these e-mails. They don't ask for
anything. I would be delighted to talk to you and give you up to
dozens of options for medical treatment and coping strategies for
pain relief, but you need to request a free coaching consult and
complete the intake form. I charge $225 for a formal office
consult. You can receive pain coaching from me for free; I even
pay for the call.

Regarding my newsletter of June 6, called OLD DOGS; NEW TRICKS,
one reader from England wrote, "You have no idea how delicious
it is for a patient to hear a doctor say, I WAS WRONG. SHAME ON
ME. SHAME ON US. Please keep being a human being first and a
doctor second." Another reader wrote, "Hurray for Bill!!! It
is very true that you have to listen to your body. He should be
very proud of himself."

The free consults have been extremely informative for me. I have
come to realize that the quality of pain care, and the sheer
number of local pain physicians in Orange County are not matched
by much of the rest of the country. If you have chronic pain and
are not being treated by a pain physician, please pursue a
consult with one. If your pain doc is unwilling to prescribe
treatments all the way up the hierarchical ladder of pain
treatments determined by the World Health Organization, you may
need to find another pain doc. There are lists of pain clinics,
pain doctors, and pain psychologists that are downloadable from
my home page on My Pain Relief Doc—www.mypainreliefdoc.com.

Have you asked yourself: Why should I complete the Personal Pain
Paradigm (PPP) Assessment? Long story short-how much pain you
have is not determined by how much tissue damage there is, but
by the relative amounts of excitatory and inhibitory pain
chemicals produced by your body, going from your spinal cord to
your brain.

There are hundreds of factors that can increase or decrease
these excitatory or inhibitory pain chemicals, e.g., external
chemicals, activities, thoughts, and behaviors. The PPP assesses
almost all of these factors and produces a detailed graph and
report that informs you-and me, if you request a free
consult-which factors are doing what. Thus, you learn exactly
what steps you can take to decrease your own pain. Ultimately,
you have more pain than you have to have-given your specific
tissue damage/irritation. The PPP will show you how to get rid
of the excess. Then, in your consult with me, I will inform you
what steps the doctors can take to decrease your pain.

Why does it cost $19.95 to take the PPP? It took me over a
thousand hours to develop the PPP and thousands of dollars to
develop the scoring and reporting functions of the PPP. I need
to charge a small fee to recoup a portion of those costs.

I am delighted that people are starting to use the Ask Dr. Tim
section of the MyPainReliefDoc.com web site. If you have a
single, well-formulated question you want answered, I can almost
guarantee that I will answer it. I will post my responses on the
Fellowship Forum page:
www.mypainreliefdoc.com/fellowship-forum-for-pain.htm. If your
question boils down to, "What kind of medical treatments should
I be getting?" you probably should sign up for a free consult.
I respond personally to all e-mails, whether or not my answer
ends up being entered into the Ask Dr. Tim section.

Regarding our significant others and pain support
people-Don't expect or hope for your significant others to
come to understand or truly empathize with your pain. They just
can't get there if they don't have pain themselves. That
doesn't make them bad people, just human. However, you might
try printing out a free copy of my short story, "A Cold Day in
Hell," which can be found here:
www.mypainreliefdoc.com/a-typical-day-in-pain.htm

The feedback is coming in for our prescription analgesic
creams-NEURELIEF, GYM GEL, MYOMAGIC, and FIBRO FREEZ. We are
receiving outstanding results, but have received several
complaints about the cost. We charge $43 for a 1-oz. jar, and
$79 for a 2-oz. jar. Recently, I contacted several local
compounding pharmacies, and one out-of-state pharmacy. I
inquired about their charges to compound our products. In every
case, they charged more than we are charging. It seems unlikely
that anyone could compound our ingredients and charge
significantly less.

I know there are people out there who flat out can't afford an
extra $79 per month-no matter how much pain relief they get. It
is devastating to us to know that finances could prohibit one of
our members from receiving the best possible pain relief. I have
a call into our compounding pharmacy to determine if we have any
wiggle room in the price. In recognition of strained finances,
for the rest of this year, I will offer a 50 percent,
money-back-if-not-satisfied guarantee on all four gels to anyone
who receives this e-mail. Simply return the unused portion
to PACE, Inc., Box 6599, Irvine, CA 92616.

I would like to include more information about the latest
research into chronic pain in the AIM newsletter. If you are
aware of any sites, web addresses, or groups, etc. that provide
such info on the Internet, please let me know so I can select
some info for our AIM newsletter.

In the past year, sign-ups for the newsletter have almost
doubled. Feedback from our members has not. Please feel free to
share interesting stories, jokes, pertinent info, rants, and
anything that you want to dash off before going to bed.
MyPainReliefDoc.com is meant to be your web site. Tell me what
you want and I will try to make it happen. I know you're out
there; I can hear you breathing.

Good light,
